OWAconstruct® – Wide spanning sections
In some areas it is not possible for the normal suspension of sections from the soffit or allowable to place any additional loading on the soffit. In this and many other situations, wide span bearers are put into action.
Frequently, office units are installed in industrial areas. In this situation the suspension height often exceeds an economically justifiable connection between the ceiling and the roof construction, so the use of wide span bearers is recommended.
Generally, an additional load spread over a soffit with pre-cast light concrete slabs or hollow pots does not necessarily have an adverse effect on the overall roof constructions.
Another reason is there not being existing construction-certification (see DIN 18168) for the securing of suspension hangers.
